Thanks for a fascinating discussion. It’s a great reminder to look at the long picture. Today I was walking in the Texas heat (for my first walk in a Covid week) and have some thoughts about David’s arguments. When he compares far right Evangelicals with the far left in general, he’s not comparing apples and oranges. He mentioned that no left-leaning denomination is a monolith and perhaps that’s a good thing. Later he compares Covid lockdown policies for churches and BLM protests. They also are not equivalent. The churches were meeting indoors and few would have the bravery to wear a mask in them. The protests were mainly outside and many were wearing masks. (Even here in Texas when I went to a BLM protest in the heat of the summer, I saw the majority masked up.)
