In our fast-paced world, where bigger often feels better, we can easily overlook the quiet, subtle ways God connects with us in the everyday. What if, instead of searching for the grand and the dramatic, we turned our attention to the small, seemingly insignificant moments that fill our lives?
In this episode of the Good Faith Podcast, authors Andi Ashworth and Charlie Peacock provide insights into “why everything that doesn’t matter, matters so much” – the title of their newly released book. Through nearly 50 years of marriage, Charlie and Andi have lived as examples of radical hospitality. They recount their journey of transforming an old church building into a dynamic gathering place of warmth and generosity through their co-founded initiative, Art House America.
Their story beautifully illustrates how everyday interactions can have profound impacts, from cultivating individual personal relationships, to sparking movements for global change.

Charlie Peacock: I have to be very careful that I don’t turn these things that are only monetized into the most important things. If I’m really gonna live out my theology, what I truly believe about the depth and width of God’s creation, then I’ve got to give full credence, full power, full interest to all of it, and not constantly lean into whatever the world deems deserves applause or deserves monetization.
Andi Ashworth: When we use the word ‘success,’ so often we are thinking in terms of metrics and numbers as a way of valuing human life. That kind of has always gotten under my skin a bit, because there’s so many instances that this just doesn’t fit. So I love the word ‘fruitfulness’ because it is turning to what Jesus is talking about all the time, and it’s fruit bearing that comes from our being connected, abiding in the vine. It is Christ’s life in us as it goes out into the world.
